A town crier rings a large brass handbell while walking along a lively narrow cobblestone street lined with two-story buildings and residents watching from open windows.

The Misdirected Morning Announcements

Five urgent announcements had to be delivered across town before noon. Each town crier received the correct announcement scroll and the correct destination, but a hurried guild clerk handed every crier the wrong bell. Soon, unfamiliar bell tones rang through the narrow cobblestone streets as residents leaned from upstairs windows to listen. Use the witnesses' accounts to determine which borrowed bell each crier carried, what announcement was delivered, and in which public square it was made.
